How Often Should You Get a Head Spa Treatment? A Lakeland Scalp Specialist Answers

This is one of the most common questions we get at LUSTRE Headspa. The short answer: it depends on your scalp. Here's how to think about it.
The baseline: once a month
For most clients, a monthly head spa treatment is the sweet spot. It aligns with the scalp's natural cell turnover cycle — roughly every 28 days — and gives treatments time to work before the next session.
Monthly visits are enough to maintain a clean, balanced scalp, prevent significant buildup, and keep the cumulative benefits of scalp massage building over time. This is exactly what our Signature Headspa Ritual Membership is designed around.
If you have a specific scalp concern: every 2–3 weeks to start
For clients dealing with a persistent issue — excess oiliness, dandruff, scalp sensitivity, or early-stage thinning — we typically recommend coming in every 2–3 weeks for the first 2 months. This accelerated start gives the scalp a chance to reset before settling into a monthly maintenance rhythm.
Think of it like starting a skincare routine: the first few sessions do the heavy lifting. After that, you're maintaining the results.
For general wellness: 6 weeks is fine
If your scalp is generally healthy and you're coming in primarily for relaxation, every 5–6 weeks works well. You'll still capture the circulation and stress-relief benefits, and your scalp won't have time to accumulate significant buildup between visits.
Signs you need to come in sooner
Between scheduled appointments, a few signals suggest your scalp needs attention sooner:
• Noticeable buildup or residue at the root within a day or two of washing
• Increased shedding or scalp tightness
• Persistent flaking despite regular washing
• Scalp that feels oily by the end of the day
If any of these are showing up consistently, book sooner rather than waiting.
